Much of challenge and excitement in pursuing academic programme in history comes from the fact that it demands proficiency in a diverse and challenging set of skills. The Department of History offers the learners a good theoretical knowledge of the discipline along with observational skills and analytical understanding of the past histories in the present circumstances. The strength of the Department of History at the campus lies in the History of Modern India with special emphasis on histories of political violence, spatial history, tourism and environmental histories. The Department offers B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in history.

The faculty members train students in empirical research and fieldwork. The postgraduate students also get the opportunity to enhance their knowledge through interdisciplinary courses.
