History

A Strong Foundation – IASE (Deemed to
be University)

The Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (Deemed to be University) has a proud past stretching back to 1950 when the petite Gandhi Vidya Mandir, parent Institution, was established in the midst of rural barren desert land Sardarshahr. From its inception with handful of students, the institution slowly grew into a giant tree which at present imparts education from primary to post-doctoral level. It has survived many ups and downs and emerged as a public university in 2002, where it got the formal recognition of Deemed to be University, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. Today, the university is a vibrant centre in research and academics as it embraces its root as a value-based institution.

The Institute of Advanced Studied in Education (Deemed to be University) (hereafter IASE) is an institution born out of dedication of the founder Shri Kanhaiyalal Dugar ( Swami Shri Ramsharan ji Maharaj). He was an embodiment of universal humanism with higher vision and dedication. His vision was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and he believed in non-violence and universal brotherhood. He had dedicated entire life for betterment of society, expansion of education and for upliftment of the downtrodden in Sardarshahr.
The core principles of founder, Shri Kanhaiyalal Dugar (Swami Shri Ramsharan ji Maharaj) , “कुछ न चाहो, काम आ जाओ” and “कोई और नहीं, कोई ग़ैर नहीं” are prioritized and practised in the environ of the institution. The firm commitment of the institution draws inspired scholars to the campus, where such thoughts are born that challenge and revolutionize the humankind.

The motto of the institution is to empower students to challenge conservative thinking in pursuit of creative ideas that develop them into a better human being. Students, here, develop critical, analytical, and writing skills in rigorous and interdisciplinary core curriculum so that they become the next generation pioneers of their vicinity. The institution goes beyond the limits to dig deeper, push further and prepare students to ask bigger questions that to leverage their knowledge to enrich the humanity. The diverse and creative students drive innovation and make masterpieces to set an example for others.

IASE (Deemed to be University) believes in the holistic development of the students. The university encourages a value based pioneering learning environment that fits into cavernous intellectual, spiritual and moral motivation that nurtures holistic personality of the students, the future leaders. To achieve the objectives, the university provides cutting-edge holistic education which prepares students for challenges and makes them future-ready.
At our institution, students have a balance in life where they spread their wings academically, well- coordinating the hand, heart and mind. The Soothing Environment

Even though Sardarshahr, the small town is located as a haven in the Thar Desert (Rajasthan), the campus of the institution is full of green lashes. The university maintains the soothing environment for peaceful study by making the campus free of noise and pollution. Daily assembly and weekly “Sarv Dharma Prarthana” at Ram Manch elevates the spiritual ambience of the campus which promotes equality, fraternity and respect for all among students and faculty members. The academic milieu on the campus encourages self-discipline, promotes quality of life and commitment to human values.

Vice Chancellor : Profile

Prof. (Dr.) B. L. Sharma is presently the Vice Chancellor of IASE (Deemed to be University), Sardarshahr, India. Prior to this, he worked as Vice Chancellor of the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India, Sarguja University, Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University, Sikar , India. As Vice Chancellor in all the four universities, he could contribute effectively in academic, financial, administrative and examination reforms and infrastructural development. In addition to several feathers, the Rajasthan University was conferred with “UPE” status during his tenure. The Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh described the Rajasthan University amongst first fifty institutions of Asia in the citations in the Science Congress held at Bhubaneswar during his tenure. He could successfully schedule and discipline academic sessions, university examinations and declaration of results in both the universities.

Prof. B.L. Sharma was an employee of the Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat between 1983-2017. He is a founder Professor and Head, Department of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Laws. In addition to this, he worked as Director, P.G. Centre for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Laws. He has sole contribution to introduce and develop a scaffold of Human Rights education in the Saurashtra University. He has specialization in Constitutional Laws, Administrative Law and Human Rights Laws. He has published several research papers and article in the field of law and human right laws in the Journals of national and international repute. He did successfully guide 20 scholars for Ph. D. research and more than 159 scholars for dissertations at P.G. level. He developed mechanism to establish live relations between society and university through ‘extension activities’ with the help and contribution of the students under the social outreach program. Result of it, more than 400 extension programmes were conducted under his leadership and guidance. He has association with the more than 26 professional and academic institutions and agencies including the ILI, United Nations High Commissioner of Refugee (UNHCR), International Committee Of Red Cross (ICRC), National and State Human Rights Commissions, Center for WTO and WIPO, different Law universities in India, UGC, Bar Council, National Commission for Woman, National Council of Rural Education, SEED and Consortium for Educational Communication. He has extensive experience in university administration and planning. He acted as Chief Rector and Chief Warden of the Saurashtra University, Member of the Joint Consultative Committee(s) of Teaching and Non -teaching staff developed for the purpose to address their grievances, Director and Convener of several Conferences Workshops and Seminars , Secretary in teachers movement, member and Chairperson of the different authorities of the different universities in India and several kinds of committees constituted for different purposes by the UGC, AIU, National Commissions, MHRD and other State and National agencies etc. He has experience to deal with issues relating to ‘service matters’ as an advocate at High Court level in addition to his specialization in the Administrative Law and Constitutional Law.

He was/is on the Editorial Board of Law Journals being published by the different Univesities and Institutions. He has been invited in number of National and International Seminars, Symposiums and Conferences to deliver invited talks, key note address and to Chair the sessions. He has also organized national conferences, Seminars and Workshops. He worked/working as ‘subject experts’ for various academic, legal organizations/ universities as a referee and ‘resource person’ for various, Academic Staff Colleges and Academic Institutes.
He has acted as chairman or members of the selection committees for teaching and administrative positions in different universities and the selection committees for judicial services for the post of Judicial Magistrates. In addtion to it he has an experience as chairperson for the committees constituted by the State to create new private universities and as member of the search cum selection committees for the post of Vice-Chancellor of different universities.
