Gandhi Vidya Mandir (GVM), the sponsoring society of
IASE
University, is a public charitable society, established in 1950. Like an oasis amidst the harshest and
backward desert terrain near Sardarshahr, Distt. Churu, Rajasthan. The sprawling
1200 acre campus is dotted by breath-taking parks, gardens, playgrounds, auditoria and cultural and spiritual
centres. The first President of India, Dr.
Rajendra Prasad, laid the foundation stone of its
University
Building in 1955.
Sardarshahr is about 300 km west of
Delhi, 125 km east of
Bikaner and 230 km north of Jaipur, connected by rail and road. GVM has its own
triad of helipads.
GVM
is a manifestation of the vision of (late) Shri. Kanhaiyalal Dugar, an embodiment of universal humanism, who embraced sanyas, and was then known as Swami Shri Ramsharanji.
He,
with a sustained and concerted endeavor of devoted social workers, philanthropists, students
and teachers, created this epitome of emulative excellence in human endeavour.
It
has over 10,000 resident / non-resident regular students and over 50,000 students
in distance mode. GVM offers education from pre-primary to Ph.D. Level.
There is a separate multi-faculty college for girls and co-educational colleges
in B.Ed.,
Panchkarma, Yoga, Ayurveda,
Paramedical, Life Sciences, IT, Management, Engineering,
Veterinary and Animal Sciences, with well-laidout hostels (AC and air-cooled also) for 2000 students, separate
for boys and girls.
Higher
education in Arts, Science and Commerce is also available on-campus.
Institute of
Advanced Studies in Education (IASE) of GVM was formally recognized as Deemed to
be University by Govt. of India under Section 3 of the
UGC Act, 1956 in 2002.
IASE is a NAAC accredited B+ (79% i.e. 5 star rated) institute, and is also NS.EN
ISO 9001:2000 certified organization.
IASE University started
Distance Education Programme in early 2003, which achieved instant success due to the need-based
and career-oriented courses, providing requisite flexibility and a variety of offerings,
delivery system and processes. The University has built a fine network of Study
Centres, touching all nooks and corners of the country,
making the education available
at the students’ doorstep.
It
is notable that Distance Education programmes follow University’s same curriculum
and system of examination and evaluation which is laid out for regular programmes.
As such, the certificates, diplomas or degrees attained through distance mode are
as good as those through regular or other modes.
IASE University ’s Distance Education
Programmes are approved by Distance Education Council (DEC) of Indira Gandhi National
Open University (IGNOU).
