GENESIS OF INSTITUTE OF MEDIA MANAGEMENT (IMM)

Throughout the world today, the ever growing influence of media is felt like never before. The three pillars to allow the sanctum of democracy stand firm and tall, are: Legislature, Executive and Judiciary, but the importance of media has manifested itself to the extent that it has become an equally essential attribute in the successful functioning of any democratic nation. It is, therefore, aptly called the Fourth Estate.
Media makes the voice of the masses heard; media helps those voices strengthened; media facilitates the needs and aspirations of the masses fulfilled by opening eyes and ears of those concerned; Media can make or shake the vox populi. A journalist can bring to centre-stage the woes of masses languishing in the remotest of the strife-torn regions. The media alone has the might to change the face of the world by arousing awareness against growing fanaticism, depletion of resources and the looming ecological threats.

The media is capable of doing all that, and much more, but, we all feel, it needs to be done with a greater sense of discretion and resolve. With that, we can combat the global problems of extremism, violence, crime, corruption, drug abuse, social and economical disparities and tensions, and make the world a better place to live.

The availability of education and training in journalism is deplorably lacking, particularly in our own remote backward region. Media needs such persons who are honest to their profession, adequately trained in the trade and are also concerned with cultural, social, political and economical development of the nation and the mankind at large. A good number of brilliant students should be drawn to take up journalism and mass-media as their career.

IASE University has chosen Bikaner to establish Institute of Media Management with an aim to create highly skilled and motivated professionals who can truly be called the pillars of the Fourth Estate.
